Hello Tooting and Furzedown!

Welcome to YourLocal London Tooting.  I hope that in time this site will become the place where all Tooting and Furzedon residents visit to find out anything they need to know about their local area, from information on shops, activities, courses, amenities, and entertainment to services, facilities, schools, exhibitions, sales and one-off events. 

You can also visit us to find out where there's a local ballet class, a decent plumber, an off-licence, a good local restaurant, a local playgroup, a DJ, a physiotherapist, an accountant, a landscape gardener or jazz musician. In short, I hope this site will mean we all get to know Tooting, and everyone in it, a little better.

I’m Candida, YourLocal London editor. I’ve been living in Tooting for ten years and I love it. It has a lot to offer, lots of community spirit, lots of diversity, interesting people, bustle. But I'm also very aware that even after ten years I have barely scratched the surface. There are things, people, places, businesses, activities that I know nothing about just around the corner from me, I'm convinced of it. And even if I've heard about something good (a local yoga class, or ballet for my daughter) I can't find out anything more about it even after hours of searching online. I became involved in this website because I need a website like this to exist.

It’s still early days so we need content. The more people who become involved in this website the better it will be so please post a notice, visit the chatroom or browse our listings. So, to get the ball rolling, where can you buy good kiddies clothes now that Mothercare and M&S have closed, how can we get a bookshop to open in Tooting and who voted Boris? Please let me know.
