This is where Parisians would feel most at home. Maida Vale forms a wholly residential district centred on wide boulevards of flats, rather than houses - spacious, well-placed, elegant and decidedly popular. What you won't find here are the usual London rows of small terraced houses, although there is a scattering of new and refurbished mews houses. In this area the garden-level maisonette replaces the house. Warwick Avenue, running north from the Harrow Road set the tone for this extremely pleasant corner and the large cream stucco houses fronting the canal are still the area's biggest single homes and the smartest. This leafy waterside neighbourhood, alongside the canl is known as Little Venice.
