Vote for your trader of the year!

Residents and visitors have until the end of August to give their favourite market trader a vote of thanks.

All council-licensed traders are eligible and the winner will be given £300 free trading, with £25 to spend at their favourite stall for one lucky voter.

Islington Council leader Terry Stacy, who met Gwilym Davies, the World Barista (coffee maker) champion, during a visit to Whitecross Street Market, said: "There are real unsung heroes in all of Islington's markets. This is a chance to give them the limelight for once. We're all proud of Islington's markets and are committed to helping them, so why not give your favourite trader a vote of thanks?"

Votes can be cast until the end of August by:

Sending a nomination form, ask traders for details

The three traders with the most votes will be visited by judges who will look at other factors such as customer service, before picking an overall winner.

The results will be announced in September.
