Valentina's - a gem on our doorstep...

When Valentina (the Italian deli/cafe/restaurant on the Upper Richmond Road) had its rather amazing overhaul last year, although it looked fantastic, it took me ages to actually make it through the front door. I am beginning to regret that now, as I have recently had two 'breakfast meetings' there (what a high-powered executive lifestyle I lead) and it is great. The first 'meeting' I had there was quite early (9.30am) and the place was pretty busy - there were other busy execs there, mums having a coffee after the school run and others who had just dropped in for some sustenance. The coffee is good, as are the pastries, and the staff are great - both 'meetings' have included my daughter who is nearly two (not so high-powered after all!) and the staff always fuss round her and look after her every whim. She is pretty good, but even so and hour and a half in a high chair in cafe, no matter how much entertainment you bring, is going to end in boredom, and yet I've never felt that they are desperate for us to leave.

I have yet to make it in there for dinner, although I am reliably informed that the food is good and I am now keen to find out for myself. Watch this space and I will let you know what it's like. Or let me know your experiences there.
