What are you planning to do on Sunday (14th June)? It looks as though the weather is due to be pretty good and the Friends of Palewell Common & Fields are inviting you to an Activity Day on Palewell Common - it will be a fun and inclusive day of sport and other activities and they hope to involve the local community and visitors with Palewell Common. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the common, bring a picnic or have a snack or drink from the kiosk, enjoy the kids playground, fly a kite or simply join in & have fun. But that isn't all that is on offer:

Medivet will have a stand and are offering: free advice to pet owners, a lucky dip with some great gifts, free dog waste bags and you can also get your dog chipped with an identification tag. Our local East Sheen Safer Neighbourhood Team will come along to explain about dog control, to discuss any concerns about safety & security and to offer free bicycle marking.

Mortlake & East Sheen Society will have a representative to talk about their work and other aspects of our local heritage.

And if sport is more your things, then there is plenty on offer:

Sheen Sports have donated soft ball equipment that is available to borrow at the Kiosk. To stimulate interest in this sport, the 'Friends' have had two softball pitches marked out and the Richmond Softball Association will be providing instruction and some players to lead some games and demonstrate the sport

Richmond Volley Ball Association will be offering Volley Ball instruction and you can join in with some games between 12:00 and 16:00.

The Palewell Petanque group will be playing Boules on the two pistes from 12:00 to 16:00 – everyone is welcome from beginners to enthusiasts. This group now meet regularly on Sunday afternoons – see www.palewellcommon.org.uk for dates.

Peter Dunning has offered half price Pitch & Putt and Tennis for the day.  In addition, Mark Chase, our local Tennis Coach, is offering free tennis lessons from 14:00 to 16:00 on Sunday.
If, like me, you think it is a waste that the Pavilion just stands there empty then you'll be pleased to know that the Friends will also be showing plans of the proposed redevelopment of the Pavilion and will be consulting with the community on what they would like to have included in this. A great opportunity for you to have your say at this crucial stage.

It is sure to be a fantastic day, so do try and go along and support one of our fantastic local green spaces!
