Bringing the Cornish coast to London
Posted on 25/7/09 by Abi Siri (1 comment)

Coast Dining opened nearly two months ago on Parkway and I went along this week to meet co-founder Anthony...

He's a Londoner himself and a well-versed restauranteur, while business partner David is the Cornish half of the duo. The aim of the restaurant is to bring the Cornish coast to London and the crisp, blue freshness of the place certainly does feel very different to any other place in Camden! The walls are lined with paintings from a collective of seven female artists based in St Ives, the bars are made of whitewashed pine, and huge skylights let in the sunshine (you can almost feel the sea breeze...)
Fresh seafood is what this place is about, and I was introduced to some live and kicking lobsters, crabs and langoustine. The crab looked particularly cross and I was warned about the langoustine being the most vicious of the lot.

The mainly-Cornish fish is delivered every morning at 4am, but as for the rest, they try to buy local. Soap is from Lemon Balm on Parkway, menus from Kentish Town and the team regularly send customers over to Green Note next door for a good night out after dinner.
The staff are a friendly bunch, and bring a comfortable family feel to the place. Meet general manager Daniel and head chef Patrick with kitchen team Alex and Juan...

Offers change regularly and the menu will also be changing soon, but I can highly recommend the gin-soused bass if you get a chance.
