Adventures in Wonderland

I entered the magical world of the TreeHouse Gallery project in Regent’s Park today. This is an interactive exhibition that aims to “re-imagine one of the great outdoor public spaces of the city... and act as a catalyst to ignite the collective imagination, encouraging adults and children alike to explore a variety of creative responses to nature”. And it certainly does. I spent a couple of hours relaxing in the squishy hanging “peace pod”, examining books in one of the treehouses, tinkering on the piano and feeling like a child on a very big swing that looks out over the boating lake. Until 6th September the site will play host to a diverse programme of stimulating exhibitions, performances, workshops, spoken word events and debates. The tree houses are built predominantly from naturally sourced materials and reclaimed city waste. All timber and building materials are being donated to the project and are guaranteed lightweight, un-pressure treated and free from chemicals that corrupt the soil. The gallery is fuelled by renewable energy and transport is being kept to a minimum, so best to walk, bicycle or skate there to see it.

Gallery opening times: 10am – 4pm weekdays

10am – 8pm Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays
