Commuting to Finchley goes back to the 1820s when a special stage-coach travelled each morning to the City. Now it is a prosperous suburb with railway, good roads and tube links forging ever closer links with central London.
Finchley has lots of green spaces with the untethered Dollis Brook, cultivated Victoria Park in Finchley Central, Friary Park and Cherry Tree Wood. Finchley boasts some fine surviving Georgiana, including the original manor house off East End Road that dates back to 1793 and is now a jewish teaching centre.
The abundance of 3 bed semi-detached suburbia spread across the area. Houses are larger, more spacious in Woodside Park; terraced and more cosy in the 'county' roads of East Finchley. Otherwise the area is bursting with flats.
