Catford's most prominent landmark is the Catford Cat, a giant fibreglass sculpture of a black cat above the entrance to the Catford Centre. Catford will never be quaint however an influx of new pubs, supermarkets and restaurants have meant that this area is on the move. Archibald Corbett bought 300 acres of virgin land in the 19th century and built thousands of homes. Homes here range from 3-6 bedroomed houses, all solidly built, with spacious rooms. Many of the bigger properties have been split up into flats, but the estate still retains it's prim-and-proper identity. All the houses have their own front garden, and most have rear ones. The area remains very quiet, very respectable - very desirable.
