Bethnal Green is in the heart of the East End and is one of London's most diverse communities. Next door to the city it attracts the city workers in the smart new flats on the one hand and refugees from every continent on the other. Add these to the traditional cockney population - itself an amalgam of incomers dating back to Huguenot weavers and beyond ,and you can see where the diverse population comes from. Here you can live a tube-stop or bike ride from the City, and walk home from the nightlife and restaurants of Shoreditch and Brick Lane which is why it attracts mostly young and single people who both live and work here.
